The park is also home to sambar deer, leopards, birds and toque macaques.
A two-hour drive from Amethyst Resort brings you to the amazing Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This ancient palace complex was carved out of the 200 metre-high rock about 1500 years ago. Visitors can climb the many steps in the Lion Rock and admire the ancient rock frescoes that cover the rock walls.
